Jorge R. Lago to the keyboard!

Hello, my name is Jorge (jrlago.es, lostregofotografia.es), I am the author of Final Selection and I would like to tell you the history of the program …

In 2009 I obtained the title of Technician in Image Lab, from that moment I started to take pictures, many photos … Of all kinds … family, social reportage, press, travel, weddings, communions, music …

In a short time, my photographic archive began to grow wild. One day making a selection of photos I realized that the process could be much better. At that time I was simply using the Windows viewer; I copied and pasted the images of the previous selection, the intermediate selection and the final selection … I duplicated many images. The Windows viewer (XP at the time) stopped being useful when I started working with the images in RAW format. I then knew Adobe Bridge, which for a time seemed very useful for my task, yes, like everything from Adobe, it was expensive.

Where I always found a problem was when making a final selection and establishing a correct order of the photographic series in a comfortable and effective way. Also, I did not want to have to use Photoshop actions to finally resize them.

From the Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3 128k I have always seen myself with a keyboard and a compiler nearby, so I decided to get down to work. Here comes the first tool I wrote to help a little with the photographs, Segunda Dimensión, which you can download for free from the link.

The idea of Final Selection has been taking shape for a few years now, but it is in July 2016 when I take a leave of absence at work and … tachán! more free time! I will not lie, I travel what I can, I rest, I climb, I go to the mountain a lot … I have also started writing the program that I use today for my photographs.

There is still a lot to do, but I think the path is the right one. I invite you to try it, and I hope you like it and fulfill your expectations in your workflow.

Thanks for reading, and anything, do not hesitate to contact me!

Jorge.
